As if I couldn't love Emmanuelle Alt any more!

Bag lust.

I have been coveting the beautiful Kennedy Bow Bridge Bag from Kate Spade New York as of late. I love the box shape, the simple, no-fuss and lady-like bow trimmings... what's not to love?

Doesn't Bryce Dallas Howard look gorgeous? I love the '60s aesthetic of the ad campaign too. Now what colour to choose...

Best of 2011.

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream
Great for moisturising chapped lips and for glossy looking cheeks...

MAC matte lipstick in Lady Danger
Felt brave enough to wear this a few times this year. My man loves me in it!

TopShop Ambush boots in Black.
Chic and comfy... can get around in these all day.

The Fool by Warpaint.
9-track-LP has been on high rotation all year. Great live band too!

My new Ray Bans.
Had been getting around in my old glasses for 6 years - loved them but needed a change. Totally worth it.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II.
Professor McGonagall is a fucking gangster.

Jack Black Intense Therapy Lip Balm, SPF 25 in Natural Mint.
Sunburnt lips suck. Thanks to this, they are a problem of the past.

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation.
Probably a new favourite among my friends too.

NBC's Community.
Favourite TV addiction of the year. Weirdest and most loveable characters on TV at the moment. Writers should be taking lessons from this about innovation and originality.
*Cough* Big Bang Theory *cough* Glee *cough*

Brous - Streamers.

Probably the best song I've heard all year. Shame the rest of her EP didn't live up to expectations. Still, this song is epic.

Wishing you a safe and happy New Years celebration and all the best for 2012!

Where do you like to be Naked?

HOW IS IT POSSIBLE THAT I ONLY JUST FOUND OUT ABOUT THIS?!

I had always wanted the original Urban Decay Naked Palette but felt that some of the colour would go unused. The second, however, seems to have more matte textures and taupe-y shades than its predecessor that I would wear on a regular basis.

Currently sold out everywhere... but I think it would totally be worth the wait!

"Never judge things by their appearance. Even carpet bags."

I've always wanted a giant carpet bag like this one from ASOS. Probably because they remind me of one of my favourite moments from Mary Poppins.

If only unpacking and redecorating were always this easy.

Black velvet

...actually, any velvet is good velvet at the moment. I've snagged these babies from TopShop.

as well as a second-hand black velvet mini skirt. Am now thinking very seriously about this black velvet blazer from J Crew
or this Ecote velvet tee from Urban Outfitters.

Until I make a decision, I shall leave you with this... because it is BADASS.

Facepalm.

I truly believe that Community is the best show on TV...
...even though it got pulled off their air very recently. This news made me want to cry (before you judge, no, I do NOT normally read MTV news). This decision is clearly a fist up the balls to good taste (watch Season 1 "Comparative Religion" if that grossed you out).

This is one of the many reasons why I try to avoid getting into shows that aren't already over. Actually, I generally try to avoid TV altogether. The popularity of shows like Two and a Half Men, The Big Bang Theory, Glee and Packed to the Rafters bewilders and perplexes me. Not only that, but they also put me in a deep state of absolute despair when I remember that shows that lack so much class, imagination and wit can manage to attract the audiences they do (or any audience at all).

Also, I just found out what Whitney is. I wait with baited breath for it to invade our Australian screens and to see if we react in horror at its tackiness (which is what should happen) or delight (which is what normally happens).

I apologise (half-heartedly, because they are seriously shit) if you are a fan of any of the aforementioned shows. I will take it back, however, if you try for ONE SECOND to argue that they are better than Community.

I rest my case. I hope Jeff Winger would be proud.

Baggu

My Baggu Duck bag basically goes everywhere I go. Rain, hail or shine, this bag can withstand anything. Fits everything I could possibly need in there, as well as other things I don't need but carry around with me anyway. I do a lot of walking and having a bag that is lightweight is really important. I used to carry a second-hand carry-on bag to class but it was too heavy on its own for it to be worth it. Baggu Duck bags are also made from recycled cotton canvas - easy on the eyes and your conscience!

Baggu have also launched a leather range, which includes a tote in small and medium sizes and pouches in apricot, black and platinum. The pouches are made from scraps from the tote bags. Black or apricot? Hmmm...

MakeupShow

I had picked up the following brushes from 7Bella at the start of the year and they have taken a regular spot in my makeup routine. They come highly recommended - take a look!

H01 Powder brush
After almost fainting from seeing how much the tapered Face Brush from Suqqu cost, I had been trying to find a more affordable version. From what I can see (I've never seen Suqqu brushes other than on my Mac), it's not as tapered and the bristles aren't as long. This is the softest brush I have ever tried though. My powder is always really well blended because I love putting this on my face!

20P01 Powder/Blush brush
The brush head is slightly smaller and I find this one great for powder compacts for more coverage on days I can't be bothered with foundation. It is more dense than the H01 and not quite as soft (which actually says more about how soft the H01 is) and would be good for blush as well. I prefer my blush brushes to be quite small so I don't personally.

5E05 Pencil brush
Perfect for around my eyes, as the brush head is smaller. Great for smudging eyeliner and a precise application of eyeshadow.

Favourites #8

I'm meant to be doing an assignment now - and what better time to update my blog with a favourites post!

Max Factor Miracle Touch Creamy Blush in Soft Candy

I was intrigued by this after it was featured in a Lisa Eldridge video and felt I had to try it. I wouldn't describe the texture as creamy per se. I'd say it is more of a balm - and highly-pigmented, smooth and easy to blend product that can be used for both lips and cheeks. Bearing the texture in mind, I wouldn't recommend this for oily skin as it leaves a glossy, dewy appearance... perfect for moisture-starved faces like mine.

Lush Breath of Fresh Air Toner

I had always avoided Lush not for any reason than the pungency of the smell of the entire product range in a tiny store. I was in search of a new toner, however, as my Kiehl's Cucumber toner was running low and I wanted to try one that didn't sting my face as much as that one did. This might just be my HG toner! It smells divine and really does help to freshen up the senses (as well as your skin) after a night's rest. Braving the smell to walk into the store was definitely worth it!

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream

I'm not a huge fan of the smell or the taste of this. It has to be said however, that this is a brilliant lip balm and highlighter! I like to use this not only on my lips but also on the tops of my cheekbones for an extra high-gloss finish. This was great in the winter for everyday as highlighters with a shimmery particles tend to clog my pores if I use them too often. As this is an extra rush balm, I don't risk that happening at all. Again, I would tell my oily-skinned friends to look elsewhere for a highlighter but this is definitely a must have for me.

Garnier Caffeine Eye Roll On
I've been meaning to try this for ages and I'm glad I have. I'm not sure it has benefits in the long term, but it's definitely great in the morning to reduce puffiness around the eyes. Really calming and refreshing and a great way to pep up the eyes ahead of a long day.

Oilatum Natural Face Repair Cream
Upon hearing the raves on Pixiwoo, I knew I had to try this. I could only get this on eBay but even with shipping, it was still cheaper than a lot of moisturisers that I've tried or have been thinking about trying. Great for my skin, even now going into warmer weather. It has NO SCENT whatsoever which I love so it's great because I do get sensitive. So good I even bought my boyfriend a tube!

Avene Gentle Milk Cleanser
More like a lotion and is great for helping to dissolve makeup off the face but still gentle enough not to irritate the skin. Leaves the skin feeling soft and clean... and it's cheap!

I love Emmanuelle Alt's style. Tough and effortless, she is the queen of casual chic in my eyes.

F.E.E.L.I.N.G.C.A.L.L.E.D.L.O.V.E.

I know I go on about Pulp a lot, but I've just had one of the most perfect nights out of my life. I will not forget their performance of Common People for a long time. The feeling was electric.

I lost my voice 5 songs in and deafened my poor boyfriend screaming in his ear. I didn't care that my seats were forever away, nor that it was at disgusting Festival Hall. I would have been happy listening from outside.

And Jarvis Cocker is the coolest man alive.
