I'm meant to be doing an assignment now - and what better time to update my blog with a favourites post!

Max Factor Miracle Touch Creamy Blush in Soft Candy

I was intrigued by this after it was featured in a Lisa Eldridge video and felt I had to try it. I wouldn't describe the texture as creamy per se. I'd say it is more of a balm - and highly-pigmented, smooth and easy to blend product that can be used for both lips and cheeks. Bearing the texture in mind, I wouldn't recommend this for oily skin as it leaves a glossy, dewy appearance... perfect for moisture-starved faces like mine.

Lush Breath of Fresh Air Toner

I had always avoided Lush not for any reason than the pungency of the smell of the entire product range in a tiny store. I was in search of a new toner, however, as my Kiehl's Cucumber toner was running low and I wanted to try one that didn't sting my face as much as that one did. This might just be my HG toner! It smells divine and really does help to freshen up the senses (as well as your skin) after a night's rest. Braving the smell to walk into the store was definitely worth it!

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream

I'm not a huge fan of the smell or the taste of this. It has to be said however, that this is a brilliant lip balm and highlighter! I like to use this not only on my lips but also on the tops of my cheekbones for an extra high-gloss finish. This was great in the winter for everyday as highlighters with a shimmery particles tend to clog my pores if I use them too often. As this is an extra rush balm, I don't risk that happening at all. Again, I would tell my oily-skinned friends to look elsewhere for a highlighter but this is definitely a must have for me.

Garnier Caffeine Eye Roll On

I've been meaning to try this for ages and I'm glad I have. I'm not sure it has benefits in the long term, but it's definitely great in the morning to reduce puffiness around the eyes. Really calming and refreshing and a great way to pep up the eyes ahead of a long day.

Oilatum Natural Face Repair Cream

Upon hearing the raves on Pixiwoo, I knew I had to try this. I could only get this on eBay but even with shipping, it was still cheaper than a lot of moisturisers that I've tried or have been thinking about trying. Great for my skin, even now going into warmer weather. It has NO SCENT whatsoever which I love so it's great because I do get sensitive. So good I even bought my boyfriend a tube!

Avene Gentle Milk Cleanser

More like a lotion and is great for helping to dissolve makeup off the face but still gentle enough not to irritate the skin. Leaves the skin feeling soft and clean... and it's cheap!

F.E.E.L.I.N.G.C.A.L.L.E.D.L.O.V.E.

I know I go on about Pulp a lot, but I've just had one of the most perfect nights out of my life. I will not forget their performance of Common People for a long time. The feeling was electric.

I lost my voice 5 songs in and deafened my poor boyfriend screaming in his ear. I didn't care that my seats were forever away, nor that it was at disgusting Festival Hall. I would have been happy listening from outside.

And Jarvis Cocker is the coolest man alive.

It's mid-year break at uni and I'm actually looking forward to taking on a full-load of work next semester... though I realise I'll be eating my words in the not-so-distant future. It's been an unbelievably slow few weeks. I reorganised my makeup collection this afternoon. Very slow indeed. So before the new semester begins, I thought I'd share some of the new things I've had time to acquaint myself with over the past few weeks.

Community Season 1 DVD

I'm glad my boyfriend got me into this show a few weeks ago. I love quirky comedies and I've watched my copies of The Office, Extras, Black Books, The I.T Crowd, and The Mighty Boosh to death - I needed to something new to get me through 6 weeks of no commitments. Community is one of the funniest sitcoms I've seen in a long time. The writing is seamless and the characters are all equally lovable. No shortage of zingers, this show gets better and better the more you get to know the characters. I couldn't even pick a favourite. Great show, great laughs - looking forward to getting the second season on DVD in September!

Skying by The Horrors

The third album from British band, The Horrors is nothing short of awesome. They were a band I was unsure to take seriously when I first came across them - the image of them on the cover of their debut album Strange House, as well as the silly stage names they gave themselves made me think it was yet another emo band that I should be avoiding. Their music was fun, however so I stuck with them. I loved their sophomore effort Primary Colours and was unbelievably excited when Skying was released. I'm not sure if they were being ironic with their image when they debuted but whatever the case, they have definitely proven themselves to be seriously talented musicians. Moody, clangy and reminiscent of a marriage between My Bloody Valentine and The Cure (tenuous links, I know), Skying is a true triumph. Almost makes me forget that the drummer used to call himself "Coffin Joe".

Missha Super Aqua Hydrating Emulsion

My love affair with Missha has not faded. I've only recently run out of the first over day moisturiser (bought last November) and have had to replace it. It was hard to narrow it down because the opportunities for me to try new products are far and few between as I only like to buy new skincare products to replace others. This lotion is great for the winter now that my skin is feeling extra thirsty in the face of Antarctic winds (yes, we still get them though it doesn't snow!). The scent is pleasant and light and a little goes a long way. Plus it comes in an enormous 150ml bottle which will last me another few months.

My one complaint however is about the packaging - whoever convinced them that a glass bottle with NO PUMP was a good idea needs a slap in the face as it makes getting the right amount of product out quite the effort. Would MUCH prefer a tube! Please fix this, Missha! Otherwise, a fantastic product!

Benefit Moon Beam

I've had this in my makeup collection for a long time but have only reserved it for special occasions. Recently, I've been mixing a spot of it with my Missha Emulsion in the morning under my makeup to put the glow back into my very dehydrated skin. Great for warmer skin tones, this creamy highlighter contains pearl that seems to reflect all sorts of different colours - pinks, greens, golds - while it sounds bizarre, it is actually ideal because the skin is naturally made up of those colours. It comes in a 13mL bottle which is quite a bit for a highlighter. The packaging for this item though is also ridiculous. Packaged in what is a nail polish bottle, it's hard to imagine that it could be very hygienic to use the brush included to apply the product. Seriously - what's wrong with a pump? That's what will probably prevent me from buying this again, especially if I continue to use it daily.

E.L.F Studio Blush in Pink Passion

Holy pigmented Batman! You don't need much of this at all to get a nice fresh pink glow. It looks really scary in the pan and going overboard with this blush is not at all difficult but does look great on the skin when the right amount (which is VERY little) is blended in well. It is slightly on the chalkier side but is still blendable and it is great quality for the price like the other E.L.F products I have come across. This has quickly become a favourite of mine, along with the All Over Colour Stick in Pink Lemonade, also from E.L.F.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II

No film captured the mood of the corresponding book better than this. Seriously, look at the above poster alone - there's something deeply disturbing about seeing a school on fire, don't you think?

I'll post another entry just about Harry Potter at a later date, when I have become more accepting of the fact that it really is all over. Two viewings of the film and it's still yet to properly sink in. *Tear*
