Stellaaaaaaaaaaaa

Innovative, fierce, creative, sexy... but would you expect any less from Beatle-offspring?

Stella McCartney has unveiled her line for Target Australia, which will be available from today in Target stores across the nation.

I always get excited when events like this happen. For a uni student on a tight budget living in Australia, the Designer for Target range is one of very few avenues where you get to flirt with high fashion without needing deep pockets. Until Zara opens its first store in Australia next year, this is probably the only chance I will get to get this close to bridge the luxury/thrifty gap until then.

Are you wearing purple?

I've never really liked the colour purple - if I were to stray from black, grey or white I tend to prefer earthier, neutral tones.

Colour preferences aside, today (on my side of the International Dateline) is October 20th: Spirit Day, where people will wear purple in remembrance of those who have taken their own lives in recent weeks as victims of bullying and/or homophobia.

As someone who has many homosexual friends and has witnessed homophobic bullying, the fight for LGBT equal marriage rights and against homophobia is incredibly close to my heart and one that I take very seriously. You would think that in the 21st century, considering how far we have come and how much we have learnt about discrimination, ignorance and hate and how destructive they are on an individual or a whole community, that this is a fight that should have been resolved long ago. But it isn't.

Six lives (and countless more) later and we are still fighting.

So wear purple on October 20th to show your solidarity - whether you are gay or straight - let's stand together as human beings, which is what people seem to forget sometimes when they see someone who is a bit 'different'.

I am wearing a purple jumper, which is the ONE purple thing I own even though it's a gorgeous sunny day outside. Who cares. This cause is bigger than my sweat.

Beach House, 'Teen Dream'

I have no idea why it took me so long to buy an album from Beach House. Released in January this year, 'Teen Dream' is a vision of the sleepy melodies that landed Beach House on the map when they glided into the music scene with the debut self-titled album in 2006. Great way to relax after a long day of classes, or to set the right mood for intense study (yes, my life has revolved around uni lately and I'm sick of it too). If you like Grizzly Bear or Cat Power then you should check this out. Will definitely get the complete back catalogue if it's as good as this!

LOVE

Must. Resist. Temptation.

Cheap Monday dress from NastyGal.

Am imagining this over a black slip, back seam tights and black ankle boots, with a biker jacket on top and fierce red lips to finish it off. But I really shouldn't be buying stuff... I guess I can dream.

Progress.

It's a cruel irony that the weather has started to pick up just as things have started to get really crazy at uni and I cannot leave for all the papers and books I'm buried under. I literally have not seen the sun in months.

I have a problem...

4 new pairs of shoes in 4 weeks.

This stops now.
